Save & Resume Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how the Save & Resume Chrome extension ("Save & Resume", "we", "our", "us") collects, uses, stores, and shares information when you use the extension.
1. Information We Collect
We collect the following information to provide the extension's features:
| Category | Examples | Why We Use It | Where It Is Stored |

| Usage analytics | Events such as popup opened, sign-in started/completed/failed, sign-out completed, timestamp saved or updated, category assigned/created/deleted, Study Mode toggled, note edited, card expanded/collapsed, info popover opened, video opened; event properties may include extension version and simple usage flags such as whether Study Mode was on, whether a note existed, whether a category was default or custom, number of timestamps on a card, or whether you were signed in | Understand product usage, improve features, measure reliability, and guide product decisions | PostHog and local browser storage used to queue analytics temporarily if needed |
2. How Information Is Collected
- When you sign in with Google through the extension.
- When you save, update, organize, or open timestamps on YouTube pages.
- When you turn Study Mode on or off, add notes, create or delete categories, or interact with the popup UI.
- When the extension syncs local data with Firebase Firestore.
- When the extension sends analytics events through PostHog.
3. How We Use Information
- Authenticate users and maintain signed-in sessions.
- Store, retrieve, organize, migrate, and sync saved timestamps, notes, categories, and Study Mode data.
- Reopen videos at saved timestamps and support Study Mode workflows.
- Show relevant in-extension notices about updates that may affect storage behavior.
- Analyze feature usage and improve the extension's reliability and product experience.
- Operate, maintain, and secure the extension.
4. Analytics
Save & Resume uses PostHog for product analytics. Analytics help us understand how features are used and where the extension needs improvement.
- Analytics may include your user ID and, after sign-in, your email address and display name so usage can be tied to your account.
- Analytics events do not need to include the full contents of your saved videos or notes to measure product usage.
- If analytics cannot be sent immediately, some events may be queued temporarily in local extension storage and sent later.
5. Sharing of Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with service providers needed to operate the extension:
- Google Identity / OAuth services for sign-in.
- Firebase Authentication for authentication.
- Firebase Cloud Firestore for cloud sync and storage.
- PostHog for product analytics.
6. Data Retention
- Local extension data remains until you clear extension storage or uninstall the extension.
- Cloud data remains in Firestore until it is deleted through extension actions or by request.
- Authentication session data is cleared locally when you sign out, although some locally cached saved data may remain on your device.
- Queued analytics and local analytics identifiers may remain in local browser storage until sent, cleared, or removed with the extension's local data.
7. Data Security
We use authenticated access controls and Firebase security rules intended to restrict each user to their own data. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we use commercially reasonable measures to help protect data.
8. Your Choices and Controls
- You may sign out at any time from the extension popup.
- You may remove saved timestamps, notes, and categories inside the extension UI.
- You may uninstall the extension to remove local extension data from your browser.
- You may contact us to request deletion of cloud-stored data associated with your account.
9. Children's Privacy
Save & Resume is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
10. International Users
Your information may be processed in countries where Google, Firebase, and PostHog infrastructure operates.
